Hi, fellow adventurer!

Are you someone who enjoys spending time outdoors, who is dealing with injury, pain, or surgery? Do you love to head for the hills but feel limited because your body isn't cooperating? Or are you feeling like somewhere along the way you've lost touch with your body and don't feel as strong, fit, and capable as you'd like? Do you feel frustrated, doubtful, or unsure of the best way to get back to doing what you love and start feeling amazing again -- or maybe for the first time ever?

I get it. I've been there too. Outdoor adventure has been a central part of my life and my identity since I was born, and I've certainly had my share of injuries and setbacks through the years. I also know that challenge can be a unique opportunity for growth and transformation. I became a physical therapist and a coach so that I could help myself, and in turn others, become the best and fullest versions of ourselves in and through our physical bodies and our pursuits of adventure.

Telehealth has been the fastest growing sector of medicine since 2020. As an educator and practitioner, it enables me to combine today's cutting-edge technology with my expertise in rehabilitation and performance and my love for the outdoors to support my clients in the most effective and sustainable way that I feel is possible.

Virtual physical therapy and wellness programs have been proven by research to be just as successful as in-person sessions for many conditions, and sometimes even more so due to the increased accountability between sessions and the reduced cancellation rate. Personally I've been working with clients in rehab, wellness, and performance coaching virtually since 2013 and the results are undeniably positive.

Today's technology allows you to be unlimited in your choice of provider and your ability to receive physical therapy or wellness sessions and consultations anytime, anywhere -- from the comfort of your home or on your favorite trail. Enjoy real-time coaching and accountability to guide you to success in your recovery, your adventures, and your health like never before.

Virtual PT allows you to avoid becoming just another number in the medical system: rushed around due to clinic productivity requirements, decreasing insurance reimbursements, and stacked schedules. When we work together with no outside restrictions or distractions, you learn on a deeper level how to use movement as medicine to rewire the neural pathways between your body and mind. This will allow you to train sustainably into a higher level of function, instead of just going through the motions of an exercise program and actually training yourself into dysfunction by moving in poor alignment or compensating for an injury or weakness that could leave you worse off than when you started.

By working together in a mindful and sustainable way, with a high level of consistency and accountability using an integrative approach, we can accelerate your timeline for healing and change and get you back to doing what you love with confidence. I'd love to support you in reaching your rehabilitation, wellness, and adventure goals.

Hey! I'm Eliza Sampey, Doctor of Physical Therapy, practitioner of movement as medicine.  I believe in the power of movement and adventure to transform lives, and I've dedicated my life's work to this mission. Through education, evidence, and experience I've developed a strong belief in the importance of involving the whole person when embarking on a rehabilitation journey or working towards adventure goals. To isolate just one part of the whole in my clinical practice would be doing you a disservice.

I received my Doctor of Physical Therapy degree from the University of Colorado Medical School in 2008. Since then I have rounded out my education with certification in adventure performance training, certification in Isabelle Tierney's Feel Good Life methodology (a brain-based methodology in life coaching applicable to rehabilitation and wellness/performance), mentorship in Yothera embodiment work (a methodology in somatic yoga therapy), continuing study in strengths-based and brain-based coaching, neuromuscular re-education, behavioral change, and a certification in Japanese Reiki healing techniques, plus countless hours of PT-specific continuing education in multiple domains of neuromusculoskeletal rehabilitation. My physical therapy and coaching work incorporates both the body and mind components of wellness and recovery.

I also work as a professional endurance athlete, focusing on expedition-style projects around the world involving mountain bikepacking, packrafting, fastpacking, and backcountry skiing. I compete in ultra-endurance bikepacking races and formerly held the female record for the Arizona Trail 750, a self-supported 750 mile trail race from Mexico to Utah.

The Fine Print:

*I am currently fully licensed as a physical therapist in Colorado,  Arizona, and New Mexico, with additional PT Compact License privileges in Utah, Oregon, and Washington. If you are from another state and want to chat about physical therapy possibilities, please contact me; I may be able to become licensed in your state. I am available for coaching in any state or internationally.

*I do not contract with any insurance companies; as I feel this limits my effectiveness as a provider and is not in the best interest of either my clients or myself.

*I am not able to treat any Medicare beneficiaries for private pay physical therapy, as Medicare has very strict rules against this. I am, however, able to work with Medicare beneficiaries for services that are not covered by Medicare, such as wellness or adventure coaching. I love working with older adults!
